No current Queensland Parks alert page for this park. Checked 12 Sept 2026. Official Daintree park page: “There are currently no park alerts for this park.” Statewide park-alerts list (Tropical North Queensland) had no Daintree National Park (CYPAL) items. A Cape Kimberley planned-burn notice (12–14 Aug 2026, parks.qld.gov.au/park-alerts/26843) has expired — that URL 404s. Do not plan around a finished burn. Open park alerts the morning you go.
Mossman Gorge shuttle hours (published 2026–27). Centre page (checked 12 Sept 2026): every 15 minutes, 8:00am–5:00pm, seven days, not Christmas Day. Last bus leaves the gorge at 4:30pm. Adult $15.50 / child $7.75 / infant free / family (2+2) $38.75 for 1 Apr 2026–31 Mar 2027, multiple trips that day. Centre says there is no footpath from the car park and strongly encourages the shuttle.
Daintree Ferry — 5am–midnight including Christmas Day. Official ferry-info page: continuous 5am–midnight daily, including Christmas Day. Car/ute from 1 July 2026: $35 one-way / $57 return (Douglas Shire 2026/27 card). Bicycle & pedestrian $7 / $8. Birdon operates for Council. Some older Queensland Parks journey pages still say the ferry skips Christmas Day and Good Friday — treat the operator status/hours pages as the live clock. Status page still stamped 7 Jul 2026 OPEN / operating as usual (re-checked 12 Sep 2026; stamp not newer). Check daintreeferry.com.au/status-updates before you leave.

Mossman Gorge walks

easy

The signature easy experience: park at Mossman Gorge Centre, take the shuttle to the day-use area, then combine Baral Marrjanga, Lower River Track, Rex Creek Bridge and optionally the Rainforest Circuit. River views over granite — do not enter the water.

Grade: Grade 1 boardwalk to Grade 3 circuit
Time: 30 minutes to about 2 hours
Distance: 660 m to 3.4 km depending on combination

Kulki

easy

The classic Cape Tribulation view: rainforest-clad slopes to sandy beach and rocky headland. Formed lookout and boardwalk from the Kulki day-use area. Be Crocwise and watch for stingers — this is not a swim stop.

Grade: Easy lookout and formed boardwalk
Time: About 30 minutes on the boardwalk; 30–90 minutes with beach time
Distance: 600 m return (Kulki boardwalk) plus optional beach time

Mount Sorrow

hard

Steep out-and-back through lowland then upland rainforest to a ridge lookout (~650–680 m) with coast, Snapper Island and reef views on clear days. No water, no facilities, no camping, no bail-out except turn around. Walkers have been lost here.

Grade: Grade 4 — remote, steep, self-reliant
Time: Allow 6 hours
Distance: 7 km return

Be Crocwise — beaches, creeks, mangroves, the river.
Do not enter the Mossman River.
Cassowaries on the road — slow down, never feed.
Mount Sorrow is not a Kulki add-on. Walkers have been lost.
Limited reception; none at Noah Beach. 000 needs a signal.

Half-day: Mossman Gorge

One unhurried Mossman Gorge block: Centre, shuttle, boardwalks and river views — without pretending you can add Cape Tribulation and Mount Sorrow after lunch.

Early ferry, Walu Wugirriga lookout, Madja and Dubuji boardwalks, Kulki lookout/beach — then a protected southbound ferry. No Mount Sorrow on this clock.

Remote day: Mount Sorrow

The day is Mount Sorrow. Early ferry, early start, 3–4 L water, turn around at the lookout, satellite messenger if you carry one. Kulki only as a short stop after, if you’ve still got legs.

Is there an entry fee for Daintree National Park?

No general park-entry ticket. You may pay a Mossman Gorge Centre shuttle, a Daintree Ferry fare, and/or Noah Beach camping — three different systems. The Centre strongly encourages the shuttle (no footpath from the car park). Confirm live amounts on the official provider pages.

Mossman Gorge or Cape Tribulation first?

Half-day or no ferry: Mossman Gorge. Rainforest-meets-reef: Cape Tribulation via the ferry. Don’t try both plus Mount Sorrow on a first day from Cairns.

Can I swim?

Do not enter the Mossman River. Do not treat Kulki or Noah Beach as a swim stop — crocodiles and marine stingers are realistic. Follow official Be Crocwise advice.

Is there mobile reception?

Limited. Some coverage possible near Cape Tribulation village; none at Noah Beach according to official camp notes. 000 needs reception. Download Emergency+ and offline maps.
